5.5 Report on student achievement
Demonstrate understanding of a range of strategies for reporting to students and parents/carers and the purpose of keeping accurate and reliable records of student achievement.
As Kindergarten does not have a formal report in Semester One or a portfolio that is sent home, parents are informed of their child's progress through parent meetings, photos, assessment pieces and videos in Seesaw as well as through informal conversations. One of the ways that I am able to report on the daily learning experiences in Kindy is through uploading information to the parent portal of the Seesaw app. This allows parents to see what their child is doing during the day as well as interact/ask questions/make comments if they feel the need to. These are three examples of posts that I have uploaded regarding the learning that has taken place during the week. They focus on our morning activities which revolve around literacy and numeracy concepts. Parents were given an idea of what learning took place even if there wasn't a 'product' as such to show.

Photographs and anecdotal checklists are a reliable and accurate way to keep records of the students achievement particularly as sometimes what is being assessed might not directly relate to the KCG or EYLF. In this example, I have written anecdotal notes on regarding the student's ability to write their name and draw a self portrait. I have also taken photographs of their pencil grip. This along with the sample was uploaded to seesaw for the parents to see and notes were made on those who needed extra scaffolding and direction. Name writing experiences and more opportunities to practice this skill (along with cutting) were added to our programmes with a focus on those particular children.
