4.5 Use ICT safely, responsibly and ethically
Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant issues and the strategies available to support the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT in learning and teaching.
In regards to the use of I-Pads in the classroom, as a class we sat down and negotiated the rules and expectations that would be enforced when using the I-Pads whether it be playing games or taking photos for Seesaw.
We watched a video about how to take care of an I-Pad then we discussed our own Kindy Gold expectations as to what it would look like when we used the I-Pads. We wrote these expectations down and kept them near the I-Pads so that the visual reminder helped the children remember each of the rules. These rules included:
-
Clean our I-Pads if they are dirty
-
Don't put the I-Pad on the ground
-
Only playing the game(s) agreed on.
-
Gentle hands when walking around with and using the I-Pad
By deciding on the rules together and having agreed expectations, the students begin to take responsibility for their learning and govern the I-Pad use on their own without too much interference.
